Personal productivity dashboards: what is actually worth tracking

A dashboard should answer a decision question. Counting everything can produce attractive charts without improving priorities.

Start with the decision

Examples: Do I have too much work in progress? Am I protecting time for the main project? Which commitments are repeatedly slipping?

Use few measures

Active projects, focus capacity, overdue commitments or weekly completion may be enough. More metrics increase upkeep.

Accept manual review

Not every useful signal needs automation. A five-minute weekly review may be better than maintaining a complex integration.

This site discusses planning and work habits, not medical treatment or diagnosis. Persistent attention, sleep, stress, or health concerns deserve support from a qualified adult or health professional rather than a productivity hack.
